Senior Accountant. Business and Financial Services in Austin, TX

RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant is to assist in the preparation of financial statements and
supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule. The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting and analysis for the
preparation of payroll; facilitates and completes monthly, quarterly and annual close procedures including coding for revenues and expenses
to ensure they are recorded appropriately; prepares monthly general ledger account reconciliations; assist with analyzing financial
statements on a monthly basis and report on variances; assists with financial and tax audits; assists with preparing University reporting
requirements; reviews and recommends modifications to accounting systems and procedures; reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of
information and calculations to various ledgers, registers, journals and logs following established accounting procedures, and makes or
directs the correcting entries; assists with monthly reconciliation investment accounts; reviews the quarterly fixed asset schedules and
journal entries into the general and fixed asset subsidiary ledgers. Performs other projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's or higher degree in Accounting or Finance; strong understanding of accounting theory; five+ years accounting/finance
experience; experience in fund accounting or higher-education preferred; three years of payroll experience preferred; highly detail-oriented
and organized in work; ability to meet assigned deadlines; excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus;
ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives; ability to work cooperatively
and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving,
and results; experience on PC-based computerized accounting systems; Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook); commitment to the mission and vision of the University.
