Event Specialist and Business Development Associate at Start-up in Austin, TX

Half Past Now is looking for a part time Events Specialist for the next six months. This role entails collecting and quality-checking cool events in town for our site, as well as potential marketing and business development opportunities. You must live in Austin. Half Past Now, a local start-up in Austin, is a social app that helps users find the best events in town catered to their own customized preferences. Users can use our site and mobile app to share and plan events with groups. We currently have a small, four member team, so you'll have an important role in our growth as 1 of the 1st employees! Our current teammates graduated from Harvard or UT with degrees in government, comp sci, or electrical engineering. They have spent the last 4yrs at roles at McKinsey & Company, Texas Instruments, PE/VC, and start-ups. We are looking for a paid associate that could work part time (10-15 hrs/wk) in assisting us in data entry/control and helping with user acquisition. WE KNOW DATA ENTRY SOUNDS BORING but you'll be basically discovering and reading about cool stuff to do around town. This role can also include marketing and sales - putting together marketing campaigns and negotiating deals with some of the best venues (restaurants, bars, music venues) around town. Wage depends on skill set and background, but will be between $8 and $12. Possibility to join team full-time contingent on performance.
